| Thomas Mear was born in the Derbyshire town of Melbourne in 1848. He married Mary Elizabeth Underwood at King Street Wesleyan Methodist Church, Melbourne in 1871. Mary was the daughter of James Underwood and Selina Tivey. Thomas and Mary emigrated to New York in 1886 with their 5 children - Sarah Jane, Thomas James, Selina, and Fanny Bartram. Their youngest child Mabel Melbourne Mear was born in New York 1888. |
