Tivey Family Genealogy
John Tivey Born 1792
As previously stated, the family moved around the south Derbyshire/ north Leicestershire region during the time when the children were in infancy more than likely looking for work. John and Ann eventually settled in Worthington, Leicestershire.
All of John and Ann's children were baptized at St Matthew's Church (also noted as a Chapel) in the village. The church was originally established in the 1200's This was the Tivey's main place of worship though no burials were conducted here. Early burials were carried out at nearby Breedon on the Hill Church until the late 1800's when a cemetery situate between the villages of Worthington and Newbold was established. The photos below are from a local history book "Hand Me Down Hearsays" compiled by the Reverand John Dawson.
