Joseph Tivey Born 1794

Joseph Tivey, 4th son and 6th child  of Mary Fairbrother and Edward Tivey, married twice. His first wife was Mary Edward's, the neice of his elder brother John's wife - Ann Edwards. Her parents were William Edwards and Elizabeth Aymes.  Joseph, like his older brother John, worked in the fields on the Earl Ferrer's estate at Staunton Harold and Worthington.

Mary Tivey (Edwards) died in Worthington 1832 and was buried 25th December at nearby Breedon on The Hill: Joseph and his daughters moved back to Melbourne, Derbyshire where his mother was still residing. In 1841, Joseph married his second wife Sarah Bird - she was born 1811 in the Leicestershire village of Moira and was the daughter of Thomas Bird and Thirza Kerr;

Joseph's daughter Sarah married Henry Newbury - he was the illegitimate son of Catherine Newbury who later married George Tivey of Group 1.

Joseph died December 1873 and was buried at the town's cemetery on Packhorse Road, Melbourne; There is a lot more information on Joseph's line within this site (Group 10) or contact me if you would like more information.
