| This is a photo of
John Tivey born 25 August 1894, he served in the
Army during World War I. He was the son of
John Tivey (1862-1915), a
stocking maker of Shepshed Leicestershire and
Elizabeth Adkin. His mother died in 1897 and his father John, after taking advice from relatives, emigrated to USA. When John was 4 years old his father sent for him to join him in the US. However, the family returned to the UK when John could not settle due to new rules concerning Patronisation.
