Transcript - Ann McBurney becomes bride of Underwood - Miss Ann Eugenia McBurney, daughter of Mr and Mrs Kenneth McBurney of 13 1/2 East Mongomery Street, became the bride of James Garfield Underwood Jr. son of Mr and Mrs James Garfield Underwood of Boradalbin, in a ceremony performed Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at St John's Episcopal Church. The Rev Desmond C Hunt officiated. A reception followed in Union Hall, attended by 75 guests. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore an ankle length gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over Skinner satin with Elizabethan collar. Her veil was nylon net with a crown of lace and imported seed pearls. She carried a prayer book with a white orchid and streamer. The bride's sister Miss Grae Kay McBurney, was maid of honor. Her dress was rose velveteen with a matching lace jacket and headpiece. She carried a colonial bouquet. The attendants were Miss Virginia Ann Van Derwerken and Miss Sondra Jane Bump, both of this city. They wore turquoise velveteen with matching lace jackets and head pieces and carried colonial bouquets. The best man was Donald V Farrell of Albany, college roommate of the bridegroom. Ushers were walter Charles of Johnstown, and William P Carpenter of Broadalbin, brother-in-law of the bridegroom. Mrs Underwood was graduated from Johnstown High School in 1951 and from Becker Junior College Worcester Mass. Class of '52. Mr Underwood was graduated from Broadalbin High School in '42 and Cortland State Teacher's College in '49. He served three years in the U S Naval Air Corps, and is now a teacher in the Knox Junior High School. Following a trip through northern New York, the couple will live at 5 East Madison Avenue.
