Thomas Tivey Born 1811
Thomas was the eldest child of John Tivey and Ann Edwards and was born in the small village of Staunton Harold, Leicestershire: His parents married 25th March 1811 and he was baptized at St Matthew's Church, Worthington 10th October 1811, indicating that his mother was already pregnant at the time of his parents marriage;
As a child he resided in several villages and towns in the south Derbyshire/ North Leicestershire area, from settlement papers and his siblings birth places we know that he was resident in Staunton Harold, Melbourne, Derby Hills and Worthington. During his married life he also spent time in Belton and Osgathorpe but it is thought that the majority of his adulthood was spent in Worthington.
On the 24th December 1835 Thomas married Elizabeth Wardle at Worthington St Matthew's; Elizabeth was the daughter of David and Elizabeth Wardle and was baptized at Ratby, Leicestershire 14th November 1814. Her father David was born in nearby Coleorton.
Witnesses were Thomas' sister Jane Tivey and Joseph Pickering who at the time was brother-in-law to Thomas as he married Thomas and Jane's sister Frances Tivey
