| This is Ronald Tivey born 24 November 1919 Breedon, Leicestershire to parents John Frederick Tivey (1901-1984) and Doris Lilian Foster (1900-1970). Before he joined the Royal Navy in 1940 Ronald worked as a labourer in his hometown of Breedon, Leicestershire. He married Winifred Beryl Twells in 1942 and their son John Russell Tivey completed their family in 1944. He served from 1940 during WWII until its end in 1945. After his return he and worked in the coal mines of Lount and Whitwick in Leicestershire for the rest of his working life, progressed to Colliery deputy for 20 years or so. Like so many of his fellow miners, suffered in later life with Lung related health problems caused by coal mining.
