May Dunwell was born in 1893 in Heckmondwike,
West Yorkshire, the daughter of Joseph Dunwell, a Staff Presser
and Sarah Ann Senior. Her father Joseph passed away when she was
one year old and her mother remarried to Henry Allen in 1894,
she was widowed again in 1900. In 1911 May was living with her
mother at No 6 Clarkson Street, Worsborough Dale, within the
household is a Boarder named Harold Tivey - he was to become
May's husband several years later. At the time May was a
waitress in a cafe and Harold was a teacher, they married after
the War in 1919. May had a brother and a half sister - Edwin
Senior Dunwell and Freda Elizabeth Allen. Harold and May lived
in London (Streatham) after their marriage, Harold became an
accountant, they didnt have any children. May died in the
Wandsworth district of London nearly 20 years after her husband
died. This photo belonged to her sister-in-law Gladys Tivey.
