INQUEST

WHITWICK WIDOW'S SUICIDE - FOUND DROWNED IN A TUB: A sad occurrence at Whitwick on Saturday morning was the subject of an inquest the same evening by Mr H J Deane (Coroner) at the Duke of Newcastle Inn, when the circumstances attending the death of Mrs Harriett Tivey, a widow, aged 64 years, were enquired into. The evidence of deceased's son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Fred'k Wm. Richards, of North Street, Whitwick, showed that she had been living with them, She got up about six o'clock on Saturday morning and going downstairs attired only in her night-dress and stockings, she was later found dead in the soft water tub at the rear of the house. She had not been well lately. Dr. Jones, of Whitwick, spoke to having attended the deceased. The verdict recorded by the Coroner was that the deceased committed suicide by drowning, whilst of unsound mind
