The Groom in this photograph is Derek John Main, who was born
1929 in the Stoke-Upon-Trent District of Staffordshire. He
was the son of Ida Evelyn Tivey (1890-1939) and Eric Main
(1900-1975). The bride is Sheila Long, the couple married in
Crosshaven, County Cork, Ireland on 22nd September 1956. Others
in the photograph are (L-R) John Long, Bestman and brother of
Sheila, Eileen Muriel Main (1920-2013) sister of Derek
John Main, known as Bud or Buddy to firends and family; Father
of the bride Philip Long, the groom himself D J Main, Eric Main,
father of the groom, Fanny Tivey, cousin of Derek's mother, The
Bride, Nora Long -mother of the bride, the bridesmaid Sheila
Fleming. The photograph was owned by Gladys Tivey and
Robert Wright and was kindly sent to me by Janet Doody,
Robert's neighbour and friend. Thanks to Claire Jones,
