Marriage of Alonzo-Tivey-and-Maria-Starkey
Marriage solemnized at St Michael's Parish Church Melbourne. 3rd June 1895, Alonso Tivey, aged 21, Bachelor, Shoe Hand of New York, Son of Edwin Tivey, Gardener: Maria Starkey, Aged 20, Spinster of The Crewe & Harper Arms, daughter of Charles Starkey, deceased Collier: Both Signed, Witnesses Eliza Salt and Charles Thomas Starkey.
This marriage didnt last very long - they had separated before the 1901 census. By that time, Alonzo was living with Rose Neville, they had a daughter Flora Elizabeth Neville in July 1903, and a son Alonzo Neville in 1907 who died aged 8 months. Rose herself passed away in 1912. In 1939 Flora, his daughter, was married and living with her father Alonzo and husband Frederick Thompson in Weston-On-Trent. Maria was living with a man Named Joseph Belcher in 1901 and 1911, they had a daughter named Doris Mabel Tivey in 1902 who died in infancy. There were also other children who were named Tivey at Birth but later took on their natural father's name Belcher - these were Edna Ivy Tivey (Belcher), Eliza Elizabeth Tivey (1905-07) and Charles Thomas Tivey (Belcher)
